Recruiter Corner: Japan visa and PR fee hikes – here’s what you need to know

For many foreigners living in Japan, visa renewal is one of the most important, and sometimes stressful, parts of life in this country. A missing document, an error in your application, or simply not preparing in time can delay the process and, in some cases, affect the outcome of your application.
Starting October 1, 2026, there will be another important change to keep in mind. Japan’s Immigration Services Agency is introducing significant increases to the fees for changes of status of residence, extensions of your period of stay, permanent residence, and other residence procedures.
Tips from Teachers: Making friends and building community in Japan

Our seasoned teachers are sharing their top tips on how to make friends and create community in Japan. Whether you’re a total extrovert or feel a bit hesitant about meeting strangers, here are a few ideas to help you get connected!
From language cafes to international hubs, there are plenty of opportunities if you know where to look.
Japanese Lesson: Moons and rabbits – Otsukimi in Japan

Every year, starting around the end of August, stores and food shops across Japan fill up with moon and rabbit motifs. Menus begin featuring dishes where a golden egg yolk takes center stage, and seasonal merchandise suddenly showcases rabbits gazing at the moon or sitting beside stacked piles of round treats.
We would like to share a bit more about these autumn festivities, explain the connection behind the rabbits and the moon, and highlight a few essential Japanese words to look out for this season.
