YSG Community: Teacher meetup in Asakusa

One of the best things about working with YARUKI Switch Group is being part of a vibrant community of teachers from all over the world.
This month, we hosted a special meetup in historic Asakusa! Participating teachers experienced a professional kimono fitting before taking part in a hands-on workshop to make traditional Japanese candy.
Along with being a lot of fun and a great way to experience traditional culture, it was a fantastic opportunity for instructors to share experiences, build friendships, and connect with peers from across YARUKI Switch Group’s different school brands.
Recruiter Corner: Tips to ace your online interview

Online interviews existed long before COVID-19, but they became much more common during the pandemic – and have remained a regular part of the hiring process for many companies.
Interviewing from the comfort of home can lull some candidates into a false sense of security. While we may also use our screens to catch up with friends or chat with a Japanese tutor, an online interview is still a professional evaluation – and your chance to show the recruiter you're the right fit.
At YARUKI Switch Career, we regularly conduct online interviews for English-teaching jobs with YARUKI Switch Group and for partner companies across various industries. From our side of the screen, here are our top tips to help you feel prepared and put your best foot forward.
Tips from Teachers: Celebrating spooky season in Japan

For many, Halloween in Japan likely conjures images from viral videos of costumed street parties in Tokyo. But there are many other ways to celebrate spooky season in Japan – including some fantastic low-key and traditional options.
This month, several of our teachers gathered their top recommendations for soaking in the seasonal, scary vibes across late October and beyond.
Japanese Lesson: Beyond Halloween – the year-round spirits of Japanese folklore

When we think of Halloween, images of frightening ghouls, carved pumpkins, and jump scares come to mind. In contrast, Japan often conjures images of kawaii (cute) culture. But what about the darker side of Japanese folklore? What about the ghosts, demons, and supernatural beings that lurk in the shadows?
In this month’s Japanese lesson, we dive into the world of yokai (妖怪 / ようかい).
